Commdex Selected by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to Improve Border Patrol Agent Safety
Norcross, GA, June 7th, 2012 – Commdex, a wireless systems integration firm, announced today that it has been awarded USACE’s prime contract to support Custom and Border Protection’s border patrol operations at Sierra Blanca, Texas. Commdex will provide USACE with a solution that includes the design, installation, and training for a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) System. This fully digital CCTV system will assist agents at Sierra Blanca border patrol stations in monitoring and recording activity in detention areas, checkpoints, and inspection areas. Commdex’s monitoring system will significantly improve officer safety, as it will provide real-time observation of detainees and vehicles approaching the checkpoint.
This award allows Commdex to provide a sound, technical solution that fulfils the nation’s need for increased video surveillance of its borders. Under this contract, Commdex will provide all installation services for each camera, configuration, testing, system optimization, training, warranty, and documentation.
USACE provides engineering support to CBP relative to their Tactical Infrastructure on the southern international border, working to strengthen national security and maintain U.S. infrastructure. Under a variety of contracts, Commdex has supported USACE/CBP with solutions including remote video surveillance activities, design and construction of communications towers, microwave backhaul, and network engineering. Past partnerships on critical missions gives Commdex in-depth experience in the client’s technical environment to support work performed under this new contact.
Commdex President Prince Niyyar said, “We are very pleased that USACE has demonstrated its confidence in Commdex by awarding us this important contract to support border patrol operations. We are looking forward to once again partnering with USACE and CBP, and we are fully committed to the vital mission of protecting the interests of both Border Patrol employees and legally authorized persons operating motor vehicles at the Sierra Blanca border checkpoint.”
This contract is set to begin immediately, with Commdex providing and installing the new, fully digital CCTV system before the end of 2012.
